Walsh: I’ll fight Pedraza

first_imgWalsh claimed a unanimous decision over Andrey Klimov in Harrow on Saturday to earn himself a shot at the Puerto Rican’s title.Klimov, 34, fought Jose Pedraza for the vacant title last year, losing on points, and his only other loss was handed out by current WBO and WBC super lightweight champion Terence Crawford in 2013.However, Walsh floored the California-based Russian in the sixth round on the way to a 119-108, 120-107, 120-107 points verdict to claim his 21st consecutive victory. The 30-year-old from Cromer, in Norfolk, is now willing to travel the world in order to face Pedraza, who defeated Liverpool’s Stephen Smith on points in his second defence of his title earlier this year.”If I had my way, it would 100 per cent be in Norwich,” Walsh told the BBC. “If not then we’ll travel away.””Let’s travel to America. Let’s get booed out of the arena with all of the odds against me. Let’s be the underdog. I’ll perform under that pressure I’m sure.”I’ll go anywhere to fight Pedraza. A ring is a ring to me.”last_img
