KARUIZAWA, Nagano Pref. – Japan LPGA heavyweight Akiko Fukushima earned herself a share of the first-round lead with a 6-under-par 66, but defending champion Paula Creamer made an unspectacular start to her defense of the NEC Karuizawa 72 Golf Tournament on Friday.Fukushima enjoyed a flawless round to tie Namika Omata at the top of the leaderboard, but Creamer, who beat fellow U.S. tour player Ai Miyazato to win her first title in Japan here last year, could only put together a 1-under for a share of 28th. Fukushima, a three-time winner of this tournament, made a blistering start at the Karuizawa 72 Golf North Course by reeling off birdies in her first three holes.
