Comprised of the Bob Weir and Phil Lesh of the Grateful Dead, John Kadlecik (Dark Star Orchestra) on guitar, Joe Russo (Benevento/Russo Duo) on drums, and Jeff Chimenti (Ratdog & The Other Ones) on keyboards, this potent lineup lasted approximately five years before hanging it up.Bob Weir Promises More Dead & Company, RatDog’s Return In 2016However short-lived, Furthur provided Deadheads far and wide a great outlet to once again hear the music of their favorite band and to see two of its flagship members live on stage together again. Since Paradise Waits, the members of Furthur have continued to plug away famously, Lesh playing with a revolving cast of musicians in Phil & Friends and his band Communion, which includes son Grahame Lesh; Weir has gone on to tour with John Mayer, Oteil Burbridge, Jeff Chimenti and his comrades the Rhythm Devils, Bill Kreutzmann and Mickey Hart in Dead & Company; Kadlecik has started his own band and continues to feature Dead tunes alongside his originals; Russo started his own Dead-inspired band, Joe Russo’s Almost Dead, and continues to only get bigger; and Chimenti, having cemented his place in Dead circles, played at last summer’s Fare Thee Well concerts in Santa Clara and Chicago with the Core Four of the GD, Trey Anastasio, and Bruce Hornsby, and has gone on to join Weir, Kreutzmann, and Hart during their Dead & Company dates. The New Grateful Dead Archival Release Features Performance From San Francisco 1976Take a look at some video highlights as well as full-show audio from Furthur’s January 20, 2014 show at the Hard Rock Hotel from Paradise Waits below:“Feel Like A Stranger”“Loose Lucy”“Help On The Way” > “Slipknot!” > “Let It Grow”“Eyes Of The World”“Wharf Rat”last_img read more
